We, Who Are About To Die Salute You - Part 1

Finally up for show are the first models and game board for my Ludus Gladiatorius project. I have completely finished four Gladiators and the gaming board.

The board was made from 4mm MDF and I glued a load of Heroscape tiles ontop to make the hex grid. A quick trip to Wilkinsons and some sand coloured tester pots later I have a pretty decent board (in my opinion)

The Gladiator miniatures have turned out better than I imagined.

So are you not entertained!!!

    1. I wasn't that impressed with the Jugular rules. They don't offer that much more than the Spartacus board game. The minis are great however. Iam using EM4's old Ludus Gladiatorius rules which I have adapted and expanded. These are great for fast fun games, now with a whole campaign element as well.

  6. The Joy of Gladiator games is that you don't need that many of them. The arena is simple effective and looks very nice. I like the blood patches. A nice touch. Looking forward to some AAR's now.

    1. Thanks Clint. Aye, the small amount of minis and the visual candy has always had me wanting to do a gladiator game but I felt the 25/28mm miniatures still lacked presence. These larger figs show really well on a large arena. You can't go wrong with a few good blood splats!
